Our History
Schultz Family Farms’ story began in the autumn of 1982 when two brothers, Carl and Marvin Schultz, made the life-changing decision to pursue farming full-time. With humble beginnings, they started farming with just 800 acres. Over the years, we’ve been blessed to expand our acreage and raise families who have been unwavering in their support of our dreams.
In 2018, we faced a profound loss when Marvin lost his battle with his third brain tumor. As Marvin’s health declined, his sons, Joseph and William, stepped up to take significant roles on the farm. Additionally, Carl’s son, John, returned to West Tennessee in 2020, allowing him to spend more time with his family on the farm.
Today, when you choose Schultz Family Farms, you’re choosing to work with one of the four Schultzes. We operate as an entirely family-run business, with the only outside employees being some seasonal truck drivers.
About Our Farm
Schultz Family Farms is dedicated to growing high-quality crops in Dyer County, TN. Starting in 2024, we will also add rice production to our operation. Our production spans from the western edge of the county along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River to the rolling hills in Eastern Dyer County. We manage a diverse range of growing environments, including dryland and irrigated acres, to maximize our return on investment while respecting the natural landscape that surrounds our farms. Through the years, we’ve learned that taking care of the land ensures it takes care of us.
Landowners
As part of the close-knit agricultural community, Schultz Family Farms is committed to being a long-term, trustworthy partner. We understand that landowners have unique needs and desires for their land. Whether you seek candid feedback on local agriculture or want to discuss the future of your farm, we’re here to help. Please fill out the contact form below, and we will get in touch with you within the next 48 hours.
Community Engagement
Agriculture is not just our livelihood; it’s an integral part of Dyer County and Tennessee’s economy. With less than 1% of the US population involved in agriculture, we view this as an opportunity to educate and give back to our community. We actively participate in various community activities, including:
- Dyersburg Primary School’s Community Helper Day
- Dyer County Junior Livestock Association
- Dyer County Farm Bureau
- Tennessee Soybean Producers
- Tennessee Corn Producers
At Schultz Family Farms, we believe in nurturing the land, nourishing the future, and giving back to the community that has supported us throughout the years.
